UPLAC Bi-monthly meeting 29.08.2021: Mr. Md. Motin Mia, Member of Ruhitpur Union Parishad, Keraniganj, Dhaka said that a woman in my village got married three years ago and her husband had an affair with a drug addict and an influential political leader. The woman's husband beat her for dowry and kicked her out of the house along with the child. The woman came to the union council with her child. The chairman called her husband and arranged for arbitration, but due to her husband's political influence, the chairman did not accept the trial, so the chairman of today's meeting recommended that the case be sent to District Legal Aid office Dhaka.
Miking Awareness Campaign 30.08.2021: Miking's promotion of legal aid was much needed in our area, many people in our area do not know that the government is providing free legal aid support to the poor disadvantaged people. Miking is happening in rural areas about legal aid issues. Ordinary people are listening to miking so they are getting an idea about legal aid. People will get more idea about Legal Aid especially after the distribution of Legal Aid Sticker, Leaflet, Poster especially in Bazar, School, Mosque and Temple area said Md. Harun Mollah, Sakta Union, Keraniganj, Dhaka.
Quarterly Client Meeting 29.08.2021: District Legal Aid Officer(DLAO) Dhaka, Acting, Mr. Md. Zahirul Alon sir said that “you know the court was closed for a long time because of COVID 19 pandemic issue and all the cases were ongoing through virtual courts. You got valuable information through the National Legal Aid Helpline 16430. Many ADR and lawsuits have been filed, we are trying to resolve these issues as soon as possible. This is my first quarterly client consultation meeting and I will try to continue all categories of meetings thanks to USAID and implemented by Democracy International and Aparajeyo-Bangladesh (local partner of Promoting Peace and Justice) -PPJ, Dhaka.
